Bridge: Crash when trying to browse to a folder in the Export Module

Bridge crashes every time I try to Browse to a folder in the Export Module. I am trying to add a new export for Save to Hard Disk. Without exception, trying to browse to select a folder crashes Bridge.

Everything was working fine until recently. I am running CS 5.1, Bridge update 4.1.0.54, on Lion 10.7.2. This happens on all of my computers.

This is a huge part of my workflow. Please help!!

Hi Catherine,

Does this happen when you browse to any folder? Or is it a specific folder?

It is any folder .. and it happens every time. There are other reports of this issue in the forums. I have sent several reports from the various crashes.

OK. I'll have to have someone from the Bridge team investigate.

Off the top of my head, the only things I could suggest trying is restoring Bridge's preferences.

Thank you .. I appreciate the investigation. I would throw away the preferences file, but I can't find it. Can you point me to the location?

Hold down Cmd + Opt + Shift immediately after you launch Bridge.

Interesting result .. the reset allowed me to browse to a folder, but then the new export did not output any files. So .. I deleted the new export and attempted to recreate it, but then I was back to crashing on Browse.

Hi Catherine,
Do you remember what you do before the crash start happening every time? like update or install something.

Can you please try to remove folder below and restart Bridge to see if this still happens?
~/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Bridge CS5.1/Export Panel/Services/Installed

Can you send the Bridge crash log to my email alonao@adobe.com? you can find in ~/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports/

Can you also send a screen shot about the Export dialog to me? I want to see how you use it.

Thanks
Chenglong

I've had the same problem for the past few months. Chenglong, I sent you a crash report.

Resetting Bridge's preferences worked for me (I've only setup one export for the moment though).

Thank you for the suggestion. After I tried this, I was able to set up an export folder. But then when I quit bridge, it crashed instead of quitting. When I reopened it and tried to set up another export folder, it crashed when I clicked on the Browse button, just like it has been doing.

I also can reproduce this problem. It's a random crash, but it seems worse on Mac 10.7. I have logged this problem. We'll get this fixed in next release.

Thanks all.

Still waiting for a solution... Crash-Problem occurs often and I'm nearly unable to use Export-Module for work... Latest version of CS5 Design Suite Premium and OS-X Lion installed - problem still there.

Using Bridge (CS5, Mac Lion) to export files to jpg causes hard Bridge crash every time.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Bridge: (CS5, Mac Lion) Crash When Exporting.

Waiting for the solution. This 'little' glitch is a huge workflow time waster.

My understanding is that Adobe is not providing support for Lion for CS5, so you need to upgrade to fix the issue* (following Chenglong worked as a temporary fix for me for a few days, until I had the same problem agin). Sigh.

*Note: I have no idea if this bug is fixed in the current version of the software.
