Bridge/Camera Raw: ACR 6.5 bug with Photo Downloader

I run Macs with OS 10.6.8, use Adobe Bridge CS5 version 4.0.5.11. My work flow is to put a card in the computer, open Bridge and use "Get Photos From Camera" which opens Adobe Photo Downloader. I convert them to DNG's, put some copyright info in the metadata and write them to a folder of my choice.

Since I upgraded ACR to 6.5, when in Adobe Photo Loader I try to chose a folder to write the files to, that option freezes. I went back to using ACR 6.4 and the problem is gone. Fortunately I don't have a camera that needs 6.5 so I'm ok for now but ......................

Since installing the new update this morning to camera raw 6.5 (mac system with Photoshop CS5) the importer freezes when you go to select the folder to import to. I know I'm not the only one with this issue as I just saw a recommendation to go back to 6.4. Is there a patch coming out soon??

Hi Adobe i am using Adobe Bridge CS5.5 for mac on a Lion O/S. When I want to upload new pics from my camera via Photouploader i cannot choose file locations such as an external hard drive or create a new file on my hard drive. The only option I have to upload new pics is to choose the Pictures file and nothing else. I dont want this as large files take up space on my hard drive and i prefer my image/video files to be on an external drive. When I do not choose the picture file folder, the photouploader freezes in that the "choose" button slowly flashes and does not respond to clicking on it..i have to force quit to get out of program. All these hassles have started since the Camera raw update a couple of days ago. Yes, i have looked at relevant forums and have tried workarounds and they did not solve problem. Could you please do something about this annoying problem as it is slowing down my workflow majorly (meaning I have to choose the picture folder option, copy and paste all images to an external drive) this is not a good way of working especially if you have hundreds of images to work with..thank you.

Jodie,

The ACR files are here - HardDrive>Library>Application Support>Adobe>Plug-Ins>CS5>File Formats. Go to the File Formats folder and remove ACR 6.5. Then open Time Machine, go to a date before you upgraded to 6.5, go to the File Formats folder in the path above and Restore. That should put 6.4 back where it belongs.

You can also use Adobe DNG Converter which seems to be unaffected and LightRoom is also unaffected.
