What are some good resources for learning Photoshop?

Do you have suggestions for learning Photoshop or getting up-to-speed with Photoshop CS5?

The online help files are a good way to understand the basic uses of a tool, and they are user-supplemented by many links to tutorials relevant to the topic at hand.

I looked at the tutorials offered under "help" in PSCS5.
I found that Lynda Weinman has a beautiful, well modulated speaking voice but Michael Ninness gabbles, too quickly and with varying modulation, which makes him very difficult to understand. I suggest that Adobe ask Lynda.com to allow Mr. Ninness to concentrate on his other work and employ a different presenter for the video tutorials.

Help has always been a sad chapter in Adobe products. I gave up for simply Googling years ago. But now that I have a spanking new Master Collection CS5.5 I thought I'd give it a proper go again, and learn how to round the potholes.

What happens nowadays is, when I press F1 in Photoshop, I get "Community Help", which just says "To access or download help, connect to the Internet or deselect "Display Local Help Content only" in Preferences." I am connected to the Internet, and I have checked "Display Local Help", but most queries simply give (mostly irrelevant) web search results. Example: I search for "displacement map" and get "Viagra sample, Buy Viagra online".

What part of "Press F1, get help" am I getting wrong?

Hi Johan,

What you want checked is "Adobe Reference Only" - or if you want offline content limited to the user guide, just download the PDF of the User Guide in the upper right-hand corner:

The other thing you can do is use your browser to display content - if you're not a fan of "Community Help." With the Community Help application launched, choose Adobe Help>Preferences... (Mac) or Edit>Preferences... (Win) and choose "Open Help in Browser":

I just want to change the color of the clothes in the picture...or to change the style of clothing or to Morph the face in to another scene. there seems to be too much product, or too much direction to make much sense of anything that you have....but then I am human?
