Lightroom 6: Problems with Publishing Services to Facebook and Flickr

I am using LR6. Ever since I changed my Mac, i have been getting these errors when trying to upload to Facebook/Flickr using 'Publishing Services'.

Facebook:
"Please make sure the 'Adobe Photoshop Lightroom' app has permission to upload to albums with the privacy level of this album. (In Facebook, look under Account Settings/Apps/Adobe Photoshop Lightroom/Posts on my behalf.)"

Flickr:
"Could not contact the Flickr web service. Please check your Internet connection."

However, I know for a fact that my Internet connection is ok. Otherwise, I wouldn't be able to post this.

I have also tried reauthorizing both on my Facebook and Flickr accounts. In the Lightroom Plugin Manager, both Facebook and Flickr plugins are yellow, with "Installed, may not work." Have tried reloading both plugins, and they will turn green. But the moment I close the window, and try uploading, get the error, and go back to the Plugin Manager, they will be yellow again.

Would be grateful if someone could help me please.

Yeah, you're right. Except for that one window where I could upload all 17 pics in my album, Flickr suddenly seemed to have gone down. Even the Flickr website itself was having problems.

Managed to upload a couple of batches of photos (about 100 photos in total) via the LR6 Flickr plugin, and did not experience any problems at all. Hopefully, they managed to fix the issue, and that the rest of you are no longer having any problems as well.

I still can't upload via the LR5 Flickr plugin. "Could not contact the Flickr web service. Please check your internet connection." (I removed authorization before and am now trying to authorize again).

Pretty quiet here now, does that mean it works for everyone else but me? :(

The forum thread over at Flickr started by a Yahoo employee on the upload status still has people complaining in the last day that upload still isn't working well:

This is awful. I also can't update Flickr via LR 6. I get the "could not contact Flickr web service. Please check your internet connection". I tried removing the service and reauthorizing but it still doesn't work. I wonder when this will be fixed. Yahoo is PLAGUED with issues. My email hasn't been reliable via the apple native mail app nor has it been reliable on the web. It's been extremely slow so they are definitely having problems. It's why I never wanted to rely on flickr because it's yahoo!

Yep, same here "It's why I never wanted to rely on flickr because it's yahoo!"

What amazes me is the huge photographer's community it has. So, I am keeping a few pictures uploaded directly from their site to stay in touch with some people, but I moved everything else to smugmug.

It is still not sorted out. My last succesfull update to flickr was on the 17th of May.
Today I get the error message that my internet connection needs checking.

I have removed and reautorised the flickr account in lightroom, have allowed third party access through a script in google, but my published collection can not be updated.

Independent of everything on Flickr's end (there have certainly been issues). Lightroom's implementation is horribly done.
1. It fails constantly with loud meaningless error messages
- It should fail quietly and automatically retry in the background, after many failures it could make a red mark next to the album which could not be uploaded (dialog boxes with jibberish error messages are never to be tolerated under any circumstances)
2. It uploads the same picture it was uploading when it failed, leading to many duplicates which need to be manually removed)
- It should keep unique ids for local and remote pictures to ensure every picture is uploaded exactly once

I have this problem from today (12 June 2015). I last uploaded to Flickr on 6 June without any problems. I get the error message that Lightroom could not contact the Flickr web service and that I should check my internet connection. Getting annoyed slightly

I'm having the same problem. Tried everything: Authorizing, de-authorizing, closing application, changed photo name. Nothing worked.
Edit: When Uploading just 1 one photo, the error message appear, but the photo actually upload successfully

I've been running into the same problem some have described here. I created a collection of 30 photos and tried publishing to a new album in Flickr. When it came time to upload one of the photos (about 10 photos into the upload), I got the "Could not contact the Flickr web service. Please check your internet connection" error, and the operation was halted. I tried publishing several more times, but ran into the same error each time.

I then logged into Flickr and discovered that the image that Lightroom appeared to be "stuck" on had been uploaded to my Photostream several times; however, I found it interesting that those duplicate photos were NOT part of the album I had created (whereas the ones that had published successfully were).

I removed the troublesome photo from the collection, and the rest of the photos were published without issue. I then tried re-adding that photo to the collection; again, I ran into the same problems when attempting to publish the single photo (received error message despite the photo being uploaded, duplicate photo uploaded each time I clicked publish, and photo not added to the album).

Needless to say, this is a big pain, because (a) I'll wind up with a bunch of duplicates, and (b) there's no way to update the photo once uploaded to Flickr (since Lightroom doesn't seem to "know" that the photo was published successfully).

This is happening w/ Lightroom 6.1 on Mac OS X 10.10. I'm using the standard Flickr publishing service.

Haven't had any problems til about 3 weeks ago then exactly as described above. Two giants like Adobe and Yahoo should be able to get their act together over this and at least provide an explanation, instead just silence.

This export plugin really sucks. About time Adobe fixes it. They are charging us a lot of money now with the subscription plans, which I hate. I expect at least something that works, not issues that are carried on for months and years without getting fixed.

How much do we pay for faulty software?

Bring back Lightroom 5! I never had any problems with it, 6 is a pain in the....

This is the last time I upgrade...

Publishing to Flickr is the only way I share pictures with friends, now I can't do that!

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled LIGHTROOM 6 - Flickr upload keeps quitting.

Upload to the Flickr publishing service quits (service not responding) very often in LR6 - it only happened very rarely in earlier versions.

Can this be fixed, please? If there's some instability in the Flickr end, an automatic retry solution would be fine.
I often set my photos to upload over night (as it takes hours) and the constant quitting is a real nuisance.
