Lightroom classic: 10.1 Slide show with music will not export as movie

Using LRC from CC 10.1 using mac OS catalina 10.15.7 on a 27" iMac 19,1 ... when I create a slide show in the slide show module with music it plays perfectly but will not export video as default mp4. It starts and the progress bar moves a very short way and then stops. Have waited for 30 minutes and no further progress. It exports ok without music.

Is there a problem with the existing sound file? Does a different sound file work?

No I tried multiple sound files. I plays fine when playing in LR. I zipped and sent the same photos and sound files to the person that I was trying to send the slide show to he then created a slide show with a different program on his PC and the sound file worked perfectly.

A preference reset is a good trouble shooting step at this point.

A Preference File will survive a Lightroom uninstall/reinstall. Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Overwrite the Preferences when prompted by the dialog.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.

Does the behavior continue after resetting the preferences?

What other preferences will be reset so I know what to go back and reset?

I did that and it did not work no change in behavior in the slide show module. I took screen shots of my preferences and put everything back but in the library module I have one thing I have not been able to figure out how to redo. I can not figure out how to toggle between my info overlay 1 & 2 now.

There are a lot of issues in the Slideshow module with Video Export.  It has been a long term issue as shown by a search of the forums.  For me, sometimes export starts and the progress bar just stops and other times it will work.  If it stops, it requires a Lightroom restart to make it start again.  The slideshow module could use a little TLC.

@robert_somrak thanks I had never had a problem with the slide show module video export before but I only use it once or twice a year :-)

@Ken Miracle  I received the files. Thank you. I will advise after I have completed testing.

I tested with 40 Canon 5DMKIV portrait and landscape and your sound file on Lightroom 10.1 Windows 10 Build 2004 and the Slideshow saved to Default MP4 at 720P with or without the music without stalling.  Did I miss anything in the settings?

@Rikk

Have you tried this on a Mac?  Ken and I are both using macos 10.15.7.  As I recall from the other threads this was a Mac issue.  I loaned my Imac out for awhile so cant test.

@Rikk

Thanks Rikk.  When I get my Mac back from my Sis I will have to try this again.  I could easily create the issues back in June.  I dont remember any fixes for Slideshow mentioned since then.

@Rikk @robert_somrak is correct I am on a Mac and the OS you show you used 10-15-7. Not sure what the camera files may or may not have to do with it?  My preferred export that I was trying to do was 1040p. The images were primarily birds and other wildlife from Nikon D850 and Nikon D500 NEF files edited in LR. There were 60 images in the slide show that exported in 1040 or 740 without the music but multiple attempts with the music just hung up. I would share a screen shot but have not figured out how to get the size small enough for here yet.

@Rikk  here is one of the screen shots all I was trying to show was the progress bar not moving many minutes apart.

@Rikk I just tried exporting again in 720 and 1080 after hitting the + sign in add music and adding the pink panther theme I sent to you.  This time I did not preview or play the video I just went directly to export video. They both worked and I just watched them on my iMac !  Not previewing or playing the slide show is the only thing I can think of that I did differently.

I previewed them on both platforms so I don't think that is in play here.

@Rikk Really odd ... I had more things open and running on my iMac than the last time I tried to export so RAM (I have 36 GB) etc. should not have been an issue. I wonder if apple had done another one of their little updates to music or something else through an auto update in the mean time. Today when I tried it again it worked just like it did in 2019 :-) This is a "head scratcher" I am not a software engineer just a 72 year old retiree ... so it is beyond my "pay grade" :-)
