Lightroom: Image transfer to mobile device for client review

Great Software. Since the new update (3) I'm very happy with Lightroom. A nice feature would be the function to show the Images to customers by iPhone/iPad like the Software CaptureOne / Phokus can do. There are any plans to integrate this function in Lightroom?

Lightroom mobile goes some distance with this type of workflow.

This has potential to be really useful. Can't wait to try it out. The one thing that makes me still shy away is that the lightroom mobile app gives viewers the ability to edit, save, share, etc. I want participants in the shoot to be able to view the photos but I certainly don't want someone live tweeting or posting unfinished images to facebook. I'm still hoping there is some way to let viewers on ipad only view, not edit and share images.

Unless I've missed something, viewers can't view your photos in LrMobile on their iPads - only if you hand them yours. Instead, there also LrWeb https://lightroom.adobe.com/ which uses exactly the same images but is browser-based. So you share a collection with someone. They view the images in their browser, can mark favourites and add comments, but can't do the tweeting, fb etc

That looks really great, John! Thanks for sharing. I was completely unaware of that.

What's wrong with just making an export preset for that screen size and exporting them there?

For me it would be very interesting to have the function like Capture One: Shooting to the laptop - and for the customer you have the iPad - so they can have a look at the Images (realtime) and are not hanging around on the set. But I dont wanna change for Capture One just for this function - everything else is great with LR...

Have you seen the Capture One solution, Lee Jay? It's very different from what you describe. For example, once C1's iPad server is activated, you can shoot tethered (raw files) and in a few seconds the image will automatically appear on all the connected iPads. It's very slick, and in general C1's tethering capability is ahead of LR (eg you can shoot into a magazine cover layout).

Not sure it'll come directly to Lightroom though. I can imagine other solutions such as Carousel doing a similar job, perhaps integrated with LR.

No...and he didn't mention tethering in the original post.

See if someone will show you. There's video showing it here - http://www.phaseone.com/en/Software/C...

Isn't Photosmith capable of viewing the images wirelessly?

You can view images immediately after capture on an iPad wirelessly without using any other computer or application using the camera maker's WiFi units or Eye-Fi SD cards and the Shuttersnitch app ...

(please note that Shuttersnitch has had several updates since this blog posting)

or ... you can use the iPad as a secondary monitor to the laptop or desktop that you shoot tethered with Lightroom via USB using the Air Display app. (Mac only though)

Works great ...

He Butch_M, I've already tested Air Display - GREAT RECOMMENDATION! It works really great! I hope LR will come with a integrated solution of this service - but for the moment it's really perfect - thank you very much!!!

I hope there will be such a tool like capture pilot from capture on because lately i only use capture one because of this tool. Even better will be an android tablet tool like this because a lot of people out there don't like aplle products at all.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled
Android Tablet / IPad tool like capture pilot - i want this so badly.

This is an old thread but still a good topic. Lightroom mobile does not really address the issue but gets a little closer. I'm still hoping Adobe will get there someday!
