How to move photos to local storage from Lightroom desktop to free up Cloud storage?

I am running out of cloud storage and I'm trying to move albums that I'm finished with to my local disk to free up space. I want to keep everything in my Lightroom CC Catalogue but just have them stored locally.

Is there a way to do that in Lightroom CC or do I seriously have to export everything back to Lightroom Classic? And if that's the case, how do I do that?

Honestly I love being able to edit photos on my computer or iPad, but all these cloud-based versions feel half-baked in terms of useability

Lightroom Desktop does not support selective Sync.

It is not necessary to import into Lightroom Classic however.

Logging into Lightroom Classic with the same Adobe ID and enabling sync will pull all of your Lightroom Desktop/Mobile/Web cloud data down to your Lightroom Classic Catalog.

Then after Lightroom Classic has pulled down the cloud content you can safely remove it from the Lightroom Cloud Ecosystem without removing it from Classic.

When you import to Lightroom CC the full-sized images are in the cloud, and they impact your allotted cloud storage. If you import full-sized images to Lightroom Classic and create collections, and share those collections then LrC shares smart previews to the cloud and those smart previews don't impact your allotted storage. You can still edit those smart previews on your other devices. It might be something for you to consider.

Thanks, but this still doesn't help me migrate my CC catalog to Classic
