Lightroom Desktop: ADD photos button greyed out Lightroom

Adobe Lightroom "Add Photos" button is greyed out, also greyed out under "File" Add Photos. The program is updated, "Photography plan" subscription is paid. I have read everything I can find to resolve this issue. The only thing I can find is in My Account it says Cloud Storage cannot connect to network, but the photos I would like to add are stored on my computer (Windows 10).

Can you please go to Help menu > System Info and grab the Lightroom version number for us.

Under the options; File, Edit, and Photo, almost every choice is greyed out. Before the update a couple of months ago, the program worked fine.

Have you got any kind of firewall running? If you open the Creative Cloud app, can that connect ok?

Norton 360 is my firewall. Creative Cloud seems to be working fine. Photoshop 2021 works fine but not Lightroom.

Sometimes weird behavior is corrected/cured by resetting the preferences.

Reset Procedure:

1. Close Lightroom.

2. Hold down [Alt/Opt]+[Shift] while restarting Lightroom.

3. Choose the option to reset preferences in the pop-up window.

4. Close Lightroom.

5. Restart Lightroom.

Does that help?

It did not help. I reset preferences following the above instructions 2X.  :\

After the reset, I uninstalled, then shut down my firewall and reinstalled.

Still, both Add Photos are greyed out....

OK... try this:

1. Close Lightroom

2. Sign out of your Creative Cloud Desktop app

3. Sign in to Creative Cloud again

4. Open Lightroom

Does that help?

Are your original files on a NAS drive?

The files are on my camera chip plugged into my computer.

Sometimes I get them directly from my computer photo file too, but I am unable to open any currently.

Are you able to import them if you first copy them from the card to your computer?

Long shot... what kind of subscription do you have? I believe some education/corporate licenses don't include cloud services.

In Preferences > Local Storage, where is the originals location set to?

And what else is connected to your computer, such as phones, cameras, printers, network storage, external drives, anything?

Local storage is C:\Users\Jalen\AppData\Local\Adobe\Ligh...\Data

Neither of the 2 boxes above this location are checked.

Nothing else is connected to my computer. Internet to it is wireless, my wireless printer disconnects after each use. That's it.

Stranger and stranger. That's ruled out all of the usual causes. How long has this been happening? Have you tried rolling back to 4.0?

This has been since the latest update. I think that was in November. I tried updating it a couple of times hoping that would fix it but it has not.

Can you tell me how to roll it back?

Thank you

This is for LR Classic, but the principles apply to Lightroom Desktop too: https://www.lightroomqueen.com/roll-back-update-previous-classic/

Thank you, this worked. Going  back one version, didn't work. I had to go back 2 versions to be able to add photos, I believe I have 3.4 now. Hopefully it doesn't automatically update... :)

Thank you for your help! Happy New Year.

I have the same issue. What if I've never installed version 3.4 before? Where can I find the version 3.4 Lightroom?

@sliou in the CC app, click the ... to the right of Lightroom and go to Other Versions. Although this thread is 6 months old so you may want to tell us more about the problem you're having.
