Lightroom Desktop: Toggle "Flag as Pick/Reject" shortcuts

The default functionality for flagging a pick/reject will only flag an image, not unflag it. If I want to unflag something I have to grab my mouse and unclick the corresponding flag, which becomes tedious if I'm trying to keep 2 hands on my keyboard. Alternatively, the U shortcut to unflag is too far away from Z and X to be able to jump to it without looking down at the keyboard. If I'm trying to quickly flip through pictures and accidentally flag something incorrectly I'd like to just hit the same button again to unflag it and keep pressing. The 3 seconds it takes me to grab the mouse and unflag, or even the split second it takes to look down and hit U, is slowing me down when I want to just be breezing through my catalog doing picks and rejects.

Don't forget to click the up arrow to vote on your own request... yes I know it's silly that the software doesn't do that automatically.

I like your idea. In the meantime a workaround could be pressing ⌘/Ctrl + Z. It's a bit clunky but the keys are all under the same hand.
