Lightroom CC: Custom profiles don't sync with mobile

When I develop a photo on the desktop using a custom profile (from a VSCO Film preset), the preview on LR Mobile is totally different. Apparently the exporting to mobile isn't taking the profile into accounting.
This is really annoying, and is new, older versions didn't have this problem.

See, I'm not asking for the LR Mobile to work with custom presets, but at least the preview shown have to match the photo on the desktop.

Does anyone know some workaround for this bug?
Tks

I don't know the VSCO presets, but a develop presets is just a bunch of stored settings. That means that presets should sync just fine. Is it possible that VSCO also applies custom camera profiles? That could indeed cause a problem because those profiles would not be available in Lr Mobile.

Right, maybe it wasn't so clear, I'm talking about camera profiles. I don't know why LR ignores then when it generates the preview to export to Mobile.

That is not how synching works. The preview you are seeing on your movile device is not rendered by Lightroom desktop, it is rendered by Lightroom Mobile itself. What is synched is an XMP file with the edits and a smart preview. A smart previews is a misleading name however. They are not previews at all, they are small substitutes for the raw file. 'Smart proxy' would have been a better name. Each time you make a change, only the XMP gets updated and synched. So the problem is that Lightroom Mobile doesn't have this special camera profile needed to render the image on your iPad the same way as on your computer.

Custom camera profiles are not currently supported in the Lightroom for mobile product. Any image using a custom profile will be converted in the mobile environment rendering.

This would fall into the realm of a feature request to add that functionality.

I have a similar problem/feature request.
In Lightroom classic I use custom dcp profiles which I have created in Adobe DNG Profile Editor. Many of my images are scans which rely on these profiles to look right. I also create dcp files for digital cameras with a color checker.
These profiles tend to have the base curve set to linear, as I like editing from a truly flat image.
Adobe introduced the new Creative Profiles which do sync with Lightroom CC in the cloud which have a lot of potential. Unfortunately these new profiles still rely on an underlying dcp profile to work, which still does not sync to the cloud. Once synced they are re-rendered incorrectly with an Adobe generic profile, either “adobe standard” or “embedded”.
Am I understanding this correctly, or is there a simple workaround?

As I see it, there are 3 possible solutions:
1) the smart preview uploads custom and embedded dcp profiles along with the smart preview and uses those to render the image. This would solve the whole problem, and add a lot of power to the system.
2) if adobe would have an “adobe linear” profile along side “adobe standard”, this could be used as the basis for adobe creative profiles and be synced to the cloud with the current functionality. This could be a solution for the the scan profiles, but not for color checker profiles.
3) if CC would upload the desktop created preview for files that have custom profiles assigned, then they would at least show correctly in the cloud. You would loose editing functionality, but still be able to star, flag, and add keywords etc. It would also help with sharing images, as you want those to look right.

As of today's release, profiles and presets (including DCP format) sync to mobile apps, but they must be imported into the Lightroom CC desktop app to get them up to the cloud. Lightroom Classic doesn't sync profiles/presets to the cloud on its own.

I think this is what I experience too. Photos with VSCO profiles look wrong when synced from LR Classic, but if I make a small edit change in the LR CC desktop app (or on my mobile phone), the web preview updates correctly.

The problem is that I only use LR Classic to edit my pictures. Is this something that will be fixed soon?

One year later this issue is still only partially resolved, because LR Classic still cannot sync profiles on its own. I do all my image editing in LR Classic, but I cannot share any VSCO processed images to the web, because they look horrible without the correct profiles. I assume the standard Adobe profiles are used instead.

Is this something we can expect will be fixed in a future update, or isn't it planned or possible at all?

There is no syncing planned for presets from Classic to the Cloud Ecosystem. You will need to use the Lightroom Desktop App to do a one-time ingest of the presets into the Cloud Ecosystem.

Thanks for the clarification. I've found a (little cumbersome) workaround: I export the images to JPEG and then import them again. Then I sync these JPEG copies instead of the RAW files.

I wish it was possible to make a JPEG copy directly in LR without the export/import detour, but that's not possible as far as I know.
