Lightroom Mobile: Creating preset from DNG file does not save included Profile

Hello,

I have DNG file, where is used preset and profile, which is very important.

If I open this file on iPad Lightroom, I want create the preset with all the settings including profile, but profile wont load if I load this preset on new photo, which is pretty annoying.

I am quite sure that this is bug because if I open DNG file and use “Copy settings” and then I use “Paste settings” on other photos, it works well even including Profile.

So could you please work on that and repair this to create Preset from DNG including Profile?

Thank you for response,

Dominik.

And of course, when I am creating preset, I have checked current Profile.

Could you please confirm which profile it is that you used? Are these transferring between devices using Sync or by importing them?

It is profile that is created by some user, and that is it. In Lightroom mobile I just can not manage Profiles (import, delete etc.) and I can chose only between Profiles that are included in Lightroom mobile or specific Profiles of my Fuji camera.

And I got the profile to device by syncing the DNG file.

And even in this DNG, Profile is not listed in Profiles (when I change the Profile to another one, I can not find it in listing any more so I have to get Default setting to get it back).

Maybe I do not understand you correctly, but I think the problem is this: If you 'include' a profile in a preset, you do not embed it. What the preset will contain is just the instruction to select that profile. That means that the preset won't work on a device that doesn't have that profile installed.

So why does work when I do Copy Settings and Paste settings? The profile copy everytime and works.

But with this, presets are unnecessary...

You can use the Adobe DNG profile Editor to extract the camera profile from the DNG file and then import it using Lr Desktop app.

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/digital-negative.html

Scroll down at the above link, download and install the DNG Profile Editor, launch it, and open the DNG file with the embedded camera profile. Next go to File> Export. Name the camera profile to identify it, and save it to your desktop. Next open Lr Desktop app and go to File> Import Profiles & Presets. Select the camera profile saved to the desktop. It should now sync to Lr Mobile and Web apps and be available for use in a preset.

Yeah, that I had on my mind, but I do not have desktop version. Only iPad and Browser version of Lightroom. What can I do more?

But thank you much for tips!

I'm not referring to the Lightroom Classic app.  All of the Lightroom plans include the Desktop app. But of course you'll need to have a desktop or laptop computer to use it.

https://www.adobe.com/creativecloud/photography/compare-plans.htmlI'm not referring to the Lightroom Classic app.

I'm not aware of an Adobe Lightroom Mobile + Web plan without the Desktop app. I also not aware of any Adobe Creative Cloud plan that costs $5. Where did you purchase this subscription?

Launch the Creative Cloud app and click on the Account icon in the upper right-hand corner and then click on 'Adobe Account.' What plan do you see listed and what are the included apps?

Hi Todd,

There are several Lightroom mobile plans available through in-app purchase that do not include Desktop as part of the subscription. It sounds like Dominik has the mobile only plan with 40GB of Cloud storage.

What now, Todd?

The only way I am aware that custom camera profiles can be installed on Lightroom Mobile is as I outlined using Lightroom Desktop app. I've asked Adobe employee Rick if he knows of any other away this can be accomplished. If the answer is it's not currently possible then I suggest changing this post to an 'Idea.'

@todd_shaner_6660895  That's right, Todd. You can't do it with Mobile only. You could save a profile into a DNG and bring it into Lightroom Mobile but there isn't a way to install them natively.

Thanks Rick. I'm changing this to an 'Idea,' which hopefully can be implemented somehow.

Anyone landing here who knows how to get custom camera profiles installed into LR Mobile please let us know.
