We apologize for the frustration faced with Photoshop Elements 11 and El Capitan, we’re working with Apple to resolve this issue long term.

In the near term, Apple has released the 10.11.5 update to El Capitan which is resolving this issue for most users.
See more about updating to 10.11.5 update: https://support.apple.com/kb/DL1877?locale=en_US

Can I ask a dumb question? If Apple changed the API for El Capitan for downloads from the App store was the new API's ever tested? Because if the issue was known would it have not been wise to remove the Elements from the App store and force a download from the main Adobe site. May have prevented all this grief

Elements 11 hasn't been available in the app store for several years now. And you can't force a download from from the app store of something that isn't on the app store.

I contacted APPLE SUPPORT and the customer rep had no prior history of issues with OS X and Elements 11. I instructed her to please make note of this call. Was not please with NO Answer for this BUG.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Can't Save Files on PE-11 Editor with El Capitan.

Purchased PE-11 on 16 March 2014 through Apple App Store. Has worked beautifully until now. Now, we are no longer able to save files. Recently installed OS El Capitan (not sure if this is related).

Exactly what happened to me! I guess I'll call AppleCare and see what they have to say!

Did you get a response from AppleCare? Because the same problem happens for me, and it happens when saving edited images on other web-editors. The pop-up window to save the file does not allow me to save my files, and I have to force quit my entire mac.
And I just upgraded to El Capitan. Checked on my sisters mac who also just updated, same thing.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Is there any reported issue related to 'saving edited images' in Ps Elements 11 o....

When attempting to save an edited photo, the pop up window does not enable the saving action.

The upper right buttons of the window (for closing, enlarging or minimizing the windows) are not working nor the saving button.

No save for me in Elements 11. How Adobe, a fairly big software developer, can so bashfully and disrespectfully utterly disregard it's responsibilities to paying customers as to leave Elements discarded and broken this long _after_ the release of Apple's latest OS, is frankly mind boggling!

Please let Apple know about the problems introduced in the latest release of their OS so they can investigate their code and get a fix for you in an OS update.

There are always the chance that I am wrong, I'm no troll. But seriously mate?!

Your thesis is that Apple released a major OS upgrade that killed but ONE of my app's (installed on my Mac) ability to save files. They made some kind of mistake, you imply, that only the immaculate Elements 11 innocently steps into, while all the rest of my installed software (quite a lot) on my Mac happily keeps functioning perfectly just as before the update.

This not only seems extremely far fetched and bizarre, but Occam's razor implies that the error here lies within Elements and how it saves files.

Actually Occam's razor (and all basic logic) says that the factor which changed (the OS version) is at fault. The Elements code did not change in several years, but the behavior changed when you installed a new OS version (which contains new code and can change behavior).

You are having a problem with the new OS version that did not occur in the old OS version, so you need to let the OS vendor know about this issue that is affecting you.

We are documenting the problem for Apple, but it is best if Apple hears from affected customers as well.

Well, there is little dispute to the fact that Apple released a new OS, and everyone around seems to realize that this might entail some change. So what the other software developers did, apparently, is to correct and presumably test their code to make sure that their applications work as intended with the new OS.

If you did nothing to the Elements code, and it stopped working, while all my other bought software still keeps on working through this change, Occam and logic implies that you failed to do something that the others apparently got right. No?

It seems idiotic to tell Apple that they changed something in their newest OS release that caused "code that hasn't changed for several years" to stop working. Do you seriously mean that this would be a problem at Apple?

I too am having problems.
PSE 11 is not able to save since I have upgraded to El Capitan.

What is the likelihood of a fix?

FYI i purchased this from the app store.

Slim to none? They have moved on, so I guess Elements 11 is no longer supported. I bought it from app store not that long ago, and if that's the shelf life of their products, I will never again pay any money for something that I can have supported only months from purchase!

Have you guys tried creating a new admin user account to eliminate the possibility it's permissions/damaged user account?

Try creating a new Admin user account and run Elements from the new user account to see if the problem goes away: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201...

Same issue here! This is unacceptable! I bought my PE 11 and throughout the years and all Apple upgrades it has been working just fine. Now, with El Capitan I simply can't work with it?!
I use it everyday in my work. Can someone from Adobe please help!?!? I have reported this to Apple as well.
Both Adobe and Apple should be aligned on what they do! We're customers, we shouldn't be going through this problem of compatibility between sides!
And no, I'm not spending any extra money in a PS Elements upgrade.

Is everyone that is affected by this issue running the version from the Mac App store? Or is there anyone running a retail version not purchased from the Mac App store?

Again, we are working with Apple to determine what went wrong in the MacOS 10.11 update to cause this issue.

Had a chat session with Dustin at apple support he sent me here to Adobe support. No help what so ever.
Doesn't seem that Adobe are paying much attention to here either as the forum seems to be the only available support for this issue.
