Importing of raw files is now available via the Lightroom iPad App.  Please see https://blogs.adobe.com/creative/june-2020-photography-releases/ for more details.

@Rikk

That link goes to a Page Not Found error.

Sometimes stuff moves on the internet in old links. I have updated the link to this old post.

It seems they're separating out functions—Photoshop on the iPad does simple compositing (many layers, but still only simple functions to build them). Lightroom in the Cloud is apparently meant to be the stopgap for photo editing until they can build out those features. Fresco is for painting and drawing—until they can give us our brushes and other presets.

It's not the "full" Photoshop, but the "real" Photoshop. Here's hoping that having built the foundations for the "real" Photoshop, we see the bulk of the missing features arrive quickly over the course of this next year.

Your kidding right, within the next year?  The app was supposed to be out “last year.”

I feel you but I understand it is not that simple. Opening a camera RAW would require ACR engine.

The solution I have right now is to edit my RAW file in Lightroom which is basically like PS ACR exported to a stand alone software, then after editing in Lightroom go to Share icon > Open In > Copy to Photoshop

If Lightroom for iOS can do it then photoshop for iOS should also be able. Adobe just dropped the ball.

Amen. Creative cloud storage for lightroom is ridiculously priced and I refuse to waste my money on adobe storage when apple’s iCloud storage is actually AFFORDABLE.

Same problem with my Olympus raw files. Hope they add support soon. Having to use other software to change the file type is time consuming.

Yeah one would think this would have been a priority for a program called PHOTOshop.

I second this. I purchased an iPad so I could edit images when travelling and in the field - a laptop is too much to carry. It’s my own fault for not doing enough research, but I’m gutted I can’t import .ORF (RAW) files, and surprised adobe have released something unfinished and lacking in file support. So many tools missing as well!! I can’t see the sense in subscribing until these issues are addressed.

Without RAW support Photoshop for the iPad is worthless to me. Have been looking forward to this for a year, very disappointing. Will this ever have RAW support? If so, when?

How is this possible? I can edit raw files in Lightroom on my iPad. I’m a professional. This is useless.

Agree. Photoshop without Raw support is plain silly.

Yes, I agree and, unfortunately, I have no confidence they will prioritize it on an upgrade roadmap. So I will migrate over to Affinity which disturbs my workflow no end.

Affinity is SO painful to work in for me at least.  There is zero intuitiveness with the layout of that app,  Lightroom is the better choice for now.  At least PS on mobile can do layer masks...that’s huge for the moment. I don’t know of u guys remember an app called Photoforge....this was eventually bought out by Yahoo and they killed it for some reason years ago.  This app was like 10X stronger than this PS mobile is and that was almost 10 years ago I bet now!  Photoforge2 actually was it.  U could do masks and all kinds of great editing.  Wish. That was still around it would have crushed all these apps by now guarantee!

I tried to import an .NEF file into Photoshop on my iPad, but was told it was an unsupported file format. How long before .NEF files become supported?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled PS on IPad Pro: Requested function: RAW-Converter.

Any plans when RAW-Converter will be available for PS IPad Pro App? For now I am using Affinity to convert my RAW-files and import the PSD to PS. Would be great if you could give an information if you put this function in the scope already. Thanks for feedback.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Photoshop Mobile Image support: No RAW Support.

This is a major feature that’s been left out. I import my raw files directly from a camera via usb-c to my iPad for Lightroom Mobile editing all the time. Lightroom does not have any support issues. I do not see a use for photoshop mobile at this moment and hope they address this soon.

I just bought a XQD reader from Gnarbox and now I guess only good that is for really is if I shoot my D850 in jpg plus RAW to play it safe for the interim.  I do have affinity which I hate and Lightroom mobile so can save out raws there for interim until Adobe gets their priorities straight a bit.

Please add the ability to import and edit raw files. This would be extremely helpful in using the iPad as an on-the-go editing machine!

We need to be able to import our native RAW files. CR2 and DNG. It’s an unexpected stumbling block that makes the app almost irrelevant for me.

Not having camera raw dialog box is deal breaker for me too and smart objects and smart healing brush tool.  I can’t work without those 3.

DNG support for Pentax K70? I am mystified that Adobe doesn’t support a universal format it created. Especially since it is supported on your other iOS products.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Camera Raw Plugin fir iPad & Canon cr.2 file support.

The Adobe Camera raw plugin would be a very useful add-on for PS for iPad.

PS: Canon cr.2 files is not currently supported, when for?

Thanks.
