Photoshop: Auto-select layer keyboard shortcut changed.

Auto select layer function has changed in cs5. In cs4 I could hold down Cmd + alt + Ctrl (mac) no matter which Tool i had selected, and then click on an element and the layer with that element would be auto selected.
In CS5 i must first select the marque tool or the select tool in order to click on an element and have the layer selected (and then click back to the tool i was using). That's honestly waist of time. Why have you removed that time saving shortcut/function? Please add it back in.

The keyboard shortcut you mention was changed, not removed. This now brings us the HUD Color Picker. If you have OpenGL disabled (under Photoshop>Preferences>Performance) it will seem like this keyboard shortcut no longer does anything because the HUD Color Picker is an OpenGL function and will also be disabled.

The shortcut you want to use for CS5 is Command+Option(Alt)+Ctrl+Right-Click. This will perform the function you are looking for.

Hi Brett

Thanks a million times! I really appreciate that answer.

I actually phoned Adobe support today (Denmark) and was informed that the functionality had been removed in CS5. Fortunately they were wrong :-)

You are very welcome. Actually, I almost gave you the same news, but I kept tinkering until I found the right answer.
