Photoshop color issues on external monitor

I've been having this issue for a while now where when I zoom in or out, or select different PS tools, the colours flicker, which makes colour management a real pain. It seems to also happen intermittently. I'm using a BenQ SW2700, and a 2018 Macbook Pro with a display port adapter over HDMI. This setup works fine with other applications so it's not the cable or interface and it seems to have only been a problem in the last 6 months or so. I've tried switching profiles for both monitors and that hasn't seemed to have helped either. I've had to switch to other applications for colour critical work which is not idea. Any solutions?
