Photoshop: Control-click to select layer doesn't select layer in list

In previous versions of Photoshop, when right-clicking (or control-clicking) on the artboard, the drop down menu would be centered on the layer most relevant to the area in which you clicked. I found it pretty easy to locate my page elements this way. In CS5, this drop down menu doesn't seem to have nearly the degree of accuracy as it did before. Why is this? I'd say it's a step backward – and it's made things more difficult for me when working in big files that have been created by other people (wherein I don't know the layer structure).

Your copy of Photoshop isn't up to date. This should be corrected by keeping Photoshop Up-To-Date: http://adobe.ly/PS-Up-To-Date

Layer selection driving me nuts in CS5!!! Please help!

In CS4 and before if you right clicked on a layer it brought up all layers below AND AUTOMATICALLY SELECTED the one you clicked on. In CS5 it brings up a list of all layers below it and DOES NOT select the layer you clicked on.

Is there any answer to this problem?

See Jeffrey's response above – once you install the latest update the problem is fixed.
