Photoshop crash related to switching colors and gradient tool

A crash sometimes occurs upon switching foreground and background using "x" key. Usually (perhaps always) occurs while gradient tool is selected, and often when the default foreground-to-transparent gradient is selected. Problem occurs in both Photoshop CS6 (individually-purchased program) and Photoshop CC. Both are up-to-date. The crash usually happens after I have been using the program for a minimum of 30 minutes.

What does the crash report say?

Hi Chris,

I am running Windows 7 64-bit on both computers. I am not sure on the crash report. When the problem occurs again, I will let you know what it says.

Well, the Windows report won't be as useful anyway. (MacOS crash reports have more detailed info)

I suspect that something you're doing a few steps before using the gradient tool is triggering the crash, and we'd need to know all the steps involved to reproduce the crash.

It's happening to be every time I hit 'x' to swap background and foreground colours. Previous steps vary from cropping to dodge and burn to curves to levels to basically most things. I use windows 7 64 bit. It's driving me nuts!!!!

Update to the latest Photoshop CC 2014, where we fixed the issue.
And the step before changing the color, turned out to be the crop tool - it left things in a bad state.
