Not a problem

PHOTOSHOP: Difference in Clouds filter on 8/16 bit RGB pictures.

When I want to make a background in PS CC using a filter (rendering, clouds) on a 16 bit RGB picture, I only get a b/w background. When I do the same on a 8 bit RGB picture, I can use my foreground/background colours to create the background. Is this "as designed" or is it a bug? Will it be possible in future versions?

This is as designed - there are some odd limitations of the plugin SDK, and one of them is that the foreground and background colors are only available in 8 bit precision.

Since we can't get the 16 or 32 bit color data in the filter, we opted to use the most common combination of black and white.

That explains the difference. I can live with it :-)
when I realy need this, I will make an 8 bit backgound (filter) and drag it to my 16 bit picture.

Chris, would having colors in other filters be useful enough to warrant rewriting the SDK to lift the limit?

And I guess it is the thing that is the polar opposite to a JDI.
