Photoshop: I don't like the default setting of layer styles (like stroke or drop shadow). Let me set my own defaults

Dear Adobe Gripes #4437, #7162, #10977 & #7071

"Why the #ff0000 default stroke colour? Hmmm, why not?"

"Let us define the standard values for all setting such as Layer Styles,
nobody uses the red strokes and global shadows"

"Photoshop - Layer effect defaults, please give us the power to change
them. Or at the VERY least, have an option in the prefs for them to
"remember" their last state."

"Why is every new stroke ugly red and fat, why can't it remember the last
settings?"

In Photoshop CS5, not only does stroke default to Black (instead of red) you can set your own defaults for any of the settings using the [Make Default] button. You can always reset to the factory defaults if you like using the "Restore to Default" button:

Dear Adobe Gripes #2101 & #2811

"Who uses a 3 pixel red outside stroke?"

"Please stop defaulting to 3px red stroke when turning it on. Who actually uses red borders that often - how about a 1px black border instead?"

Since Photoshop CS 2015.0.0 the „Make default“ button works no more.

Seems to be working for me with the Stroke effect with CC 2015.0.1 on Mac 10.9.x. What OS are you on? Is it a specific effect that's not working for you?

OK. All the params look to be saved as a new default except the option for Fill vs Gradient. Is this what you are seeing?

Nothing is saved when I click „Make Default“, the last settings also not saved. When I close and restart PS, every effects setting is set back to default. There is only one crazy thing: When I click „Reset to default“ the outer glow radio button switches from fill to gradient. Maybe the 2015.0.1 update solves the problem, but there is no update for the german version.

I don't see a paid individual account under you email address. Is the membership you use a corporate or team account? If so, they may have updates disabled.

You can try downloading the update directly from here: http://blogs.adobe.com/crawlspace/201...
