Photoshop Lighting FX does not work in version 22.4.1

When entering the Render Lighting Effects module, there appears a lone spotlight effect (with no visible icon widget) scarcely illuminating an otherwise black image. No addition of other lights or changes to their sliders effects any change to the image.

When another attempt is made, a dialog appears and states that "Use Graphics Card Rendering must be checked". It already is. Then a dialog appears saying there is insufficient memory to initialize the workspace. There is about 8gig assigned to Photoshop, and the image is not large. I have tried it with a single layer image with a size of 256 pixels square, with the same result.

@adrocket , if you go into Preferences > Technology Previews > Deactivate Native Canvas, does Lighting Effects behave better? (you must restart Photoshop for changes to take effect)

Well, gosh if that hasn't completely fixed the problem. Thanks!
