Lightroom: API to Externalize Keyword and Other Metadata Creation

API to externalize keyword and annotation functions ... I'd like to create plugin service along the lines of, http://projects.csail.mit.edu/soylent/ but for Lightroom users. I've got the basic framework in place at http://www.tagasauris.com

Lightroom: make baseline sharpness and color noise reduction for raws be 0 (so all raw baselines are same as for rgb files) + bonus idea..

It's really great that raws and jpegs have the same baseline settings now (since PV2012), well, except for sharpness and color noise reduction. No more dealing with brightness baseline of 50, and contrast 25, and blacks 5.. - yippee! I propose that raw sharpness default value be zero, and color no

Lightroom SDK: photo:setRawMetadata - add "no throw" parameter.

Presently, LrTasks.pcall can not be used to trap errors in set-raw-metadata method. I assume it's because the function itself just stores the value to be set, then the error occurs later, upon commital or something. In any case, sometimes it is being called with computed names (keys), so error tra

Lightroom 5.2 SDK: selection change callback not called by change in most selected photo.

referring to LrDialogs.presentFloatingDialog Most plugins that care what's selected also care what's most selected. Not having a callback when most selected changes takes a lot of the fun out of it (you have to implement selection change detection by constant polling which makes the callback featur

Lightroom SDK: Ability to alter filename of rendition-to-satisfy

Presently, one can return a new filename from filter-settings function (member of params passed to filterContext:renditions method). Unfortunately, the export will fail unless the export filter creates a file with name as expected by renditionToSatisfy.destinationPath. i.e. the source-rendition fi

Lightroom SDK: Please assure *all* develop settings and metadata are available in Lr4.

Presently there are a few holes. Even 1 hole makes it impossible to write plugins that can completely define or entirely restore a user's develop settings and/or metadata. At least these are missing (there may be more that I haven't encountered or don't remember): - Crop settings. - EnableToneCur

Lightroom SDK: provide "Computer/Lightroom is idle" status and/or event.

I would like to schedule plugin activities for when computer and/or Lightroom is idle. Example use cases: - Assuring ExifMeta metadata is up2date, catalog wide. - Assuring DevMeta metadata is up2date, catalog wide. - Assuring keyword database used by Keyword Consolidator is up2date. - Automatic

Lightroom SDK: duplicate photo check

As it stands, we have the: catalog:addPhoto method, which is good - it allows plugins to add files to the catalog. However I don't think there is any way to determine if file being added is a duplicate. It would be good to be able to check that from a plugin. Thanks, Rob

Lightroom SDK: catalog:withProlongedWriteAccessDo

Is there anything about catalog:withProlongedWriteAccessDo which makes it a better candidate than catalog:withWriteAccessDo for whole-catalog updates, other than what's documented in the API doc, namely: - Initial Prompt - Modal Progress Dialog In other words, is this just a convenience function,

Lightroom SDK: complete keyword management functions

I've not thought about details in a long time, but from the top of my head, and in addition to allowing plugins to readily keep an updated table of keywords (keyword events would help in this regard, since polling the entire set for changes can be very time consuming for a plugin), functions to: -

Lightroom SDK: Auto-populate temperature and tint fields, and auto-switch-to-custom-white-balance when set via SDK.

As it stands, the temperature and tint fields are not populated when the values have been computed by auto setting. Also, they can not be changed until a custom setting is set, *and* has "settled in". I propose: Auto-populate temperature and tint fields (when setting is auto), and auto-switch-to-cu

Lightroom SDK: Long delay required after adding a photo to catalog, before white balance can be changed to custom, reliably.

As it stands, if one adds a photo to the catalog in a with-do function, one must sleep for a good while before it's ok to change white-balance to custom in a subsequent with-do function. If wait is not long enough, the temperature and tint values will be wrong afterward (they will change to "unpredi

Lightroom 5.2 (RC) SDK: photo:saveMetadata() sometimes has "unknown file i/o error" when it shouldn't.

Here it is: After importing a newly created jpeg image (via catalog:addPhoto method), which has never been selected, one can not invoke photo:saveMetadata() without a delay after programmatic selection, otherwise the "unknown file i/o error" occurs. If one waits for a second or so after the selecti

Lightroom SDK: Make auto and as-shot temperature and tint values available.

As it stands the only way to manipulate temperature and tint via plugin is to switch white balance to custom, wait for settling, then change custom values. Unfortunately, custom values depend on editing history, and so initial values are indeterminate when current setting is auto or as-shot. There
