Two Lightroom questions: Adding metadata for multiple pictures and appending Metadata with presets

I'm new to LR and am using 4.1. I'm moving from iView after many years and trying to figure out my new workflow. I'm having a couple of problems with applying keywords and other metadata. 1) From reading the help files (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/lightroom...) it appears that I should be able

Lightroom Classic: Add an option to always export complete keyword hierarchy

As of 3.5 a change was made in the export to always strip out terms that are not checked "Include on Export". Previous to the 3.5 release this option only affected non-hierarchical keywords and when you requested to export Lightroom hierarchies they were always exported intact.Making this change m

LIghtroom 4: Date Modified on raw file is updated when saving first keyword for image

I have found a condition where Lightroom will change the file system "Date Modified" on a raw file when you add the very first keyword for an image. This happens both when using the Save command (Cmd-S/ Ctl-S) and if you have "Automatically write changes to xmp" turned on. Once the first keyword is

Generate Keyword Tags in Lightroom from Picture Location Information

Is there a way to generate Lightroom keywords based on the information in a picture's geotag? Ie: If I have a picture from Rome, I'd see the tags for Italy, Lazio, Rome all created in my Keyword tag. (if they didn't already exist) If this isn't a native LR feature, is there a plugin for doing this

LIGHTROOM - Person Keywords Need to Respect Keywords Hierarchy or Person Checkbox

Currently Person Keywords must be unique unlike normal keywords. Keywords traditionally respect the Hierarchy they are in and will tell you when you begin typing if it finds duplicates what the next highest level keyword is. Example: typing Bob would show "Bob > Work and Bob > Birthday" in t

Lightroom: Allow users to define custom metadata

It has come to my realization that a fair number of feature requests could be satisfied simply by allowing users to define custom metadata *without* having to install a 3rd party plugin. All too often users want to "make notes" about a photo, or associate photos somehow, or record some photo status

Lightroom Classic: can't import hierarchical keywords any more

In prior versions, you could export a folder full of photos with the "Write Keywords as Lightroom Hierarchy" option checked, create a new catalog, import keywords from the old catalog into the new one, right-click the exported folder in the new catalog, and say "Synchronize Folder..." to bring a sub

Lightroom Classic: Background Activity since Update

Hi there, I'm using Lightroom mainly as a catalogue archiving more than 130.000 old photos by attaching keywords. Doing this with a colleague, I am using a Synology Diskstation for syncing. Both are using Windows 10 and are syncing all the photos to an internal drive. Both have their own catalogue

Keyword management in Bridge needs a serious overhaul

The more I work with Bridge's keywords, the more frustrated I get with them. It's painful and it's tedious to really tag all of your images comprehensively. It takes way too long, and is way too fiddly. I'm still on CS5, and with Adobe's newly minted upgrade policies and am likely to be for a while

Llightroom: Keyword field loses focus when switching from a photo to a video in loupe view

This is in LR4. I have a smart collection that matches photos whose keywords are empty. I select the collection, go to loupe view, hit Control-K to focus on the keyword input field, and start tagging photos one at a time by entering a comma-separated list of keywords. When I hit Enter, the current p

Bridge: Keyword feedback for selected Images

You've designed a "quiet" interface for Bridge, no visual disturbance. I appreciate this! But there is one point, where this isn't ergonomic, hence doesn't work good enough. When we select a group of images, then some of them are key-worded, while other aren't. On the left side in the keyword hiera

Bridge: Filter -- Display the same hierarchical structure as in the keyword panel

The Filter should display the keywords in the same hierarchical structure as in the keyword panel. Give us this option at least in the preferences or better: introduce a switch button. For large data sets, the loss of structure is really bad. Thanks, Michael

In Lightroom, whenever I type a keyword that begins with a capital "S" (in the "Click here to add new keywords" field), the whole screen flickers briefly to black. I first began noticing this with Lightroom 6.2, but the issue is still there in 6.3 (CC 2015.3), on a Windows 7 Pro machine. I've got

LIGHTROOOM - Compound keywords

As I explained in a different post, Lightroom works best with a normalized keyword hierarchy. This leads to collecting adjective keywords (e.g. blue) in a separate part of the keyword hierarchy from the noun keywords (e.g. jeans). The thing is, adjectives can pair with many different nouns. If I h
