Lightroom 6: TIFF file reloads after each Develop edit, potential data loss

LR6 (CC), edit TIF file (imported from PS or NIK). Image "reloads" after almost every Develop module edit. In some cases, all previous Develop module settings are lost, and the image reverts to it's original appearance. Even though the previous Develop module edits are still shown on the History pan

LIGHTROOM: facial recognition data not saved - potential data loss

i have the option to automatically save XMP data into the images activated. so all keywords and metadata changes are not only saved to the catalog but also into my DNG and TIFF images. now this works fine for everything except the new face recognition data. i mean the areas (rectangles) where the

Lightroom: How do you tell if automatically write changes xmp is complete?

I think I have localized one of the problems I am having with cataloging my photos with Lightroom: even if you click "automatically write changes into xmp", Lightroom will quit without warning you that changes were not written. For instance, I took a keyword that had about 1,000 images associated w

Lightroom: LR5.2: Problems reading EXIF GeoSetter data from xmp files

Due to some missing features in LR (like setting the GPS altitude automatically) I geotag my images using GeoSetter. GeoSetter creates *.xmp sidecar files. Unfortunately Lightroom doesn't import the metadata from the xmp files for some NEFs. The interesting thing is that using the very same xmp f

LIGHTROOM - See pictures with comments (metadata)

Hi I have added comments/metadata to all my pictures. I would like to see these comments/metadata when I see the pictures on Plex. It is possible to add a text-layer with srt subtitles (text file) to videos. The same must be possible with pictures (IPTC, EXIF, XMP metadata). It could be nice to

Bug in DNG Converter 8.6 - XMP data does not get applied

There is a severe bug in Version 8.6 of the DNG Converter (Windows version tested on different systems). It just does not take over XMP data from sidecar files anymore into the generated DNGs. As a result the previews embedded into the DNGs are flat as well, any former edits are not being applied.

Camera Raw: Color samplers disappear when image re-edited

Why does color samplers created inside Cameraraw plugin just desapear when the image is edited again on cameraraw plugin? I want to keep my color samplers. This is so logical to be on the core of the plugin, that I can't imagine why is not. On CS6 and CC !

Lightroom 4: Improve "automatically write changes into XMP" performance.

By embedding Lightroom work directly into RAW files in addition to the catalog, I've found that it lessons the likelihood of disaster should someone's catalog get corrupted or their images separated from it. I've witnessed a number of disasters that could have been avoided had this checkbox been che

Lightroom 4.1: xmp embedded in jpegs - format not compatible with exiftool...

I can modify xmp tags in sidecars or DNGs (v1.3-) using exiftool, and Lr4.1 is happy to read them. However if I attempt the same with a jpeg, Lr4.1 resets all settings when reading xmp (unless the jpeg already has Lightroom adjustments saved in the xmp). The format *seems* OK (maybe its not), but so

Lightroom: LR4: Saving Metadata to files, is exporting old cached values (not the most recent).

I work with timelapses; and "Saving Metadata to files", does not export the most recent changes, it exports the cached settings unless you manually preview every file first. Example: Import 1000 .CR2 files to Lightroom (taken with auto white balance) Change white balance of first file to fixed va

Lightroom: Raw DNGs - takes 3 seconds per file to save metadata - why so long?

Why is it taking 3 seconds per file to save metadata for raw DNG files, whereas linear DNGs take only a small fraction of a second?

Lightroom: Create a task (progress bar) when changing keyword hierarchy and automatically write changes is set

See http://feedback.photoshop.com/photosh... for more. As far as I can tell, if you set "automatically write changes" in Lightroom, there is no way to know if when a change to Lightroom's internal idea of the xmp metadata hierarchy has been propagated to the metadata tags in the files. I suggest t

Lightroom 5.6: HierarchicalSubject tag in jpegs - when modified externally, Lr no like. (xmp sidecars: aok).

I'm trying to do an xmp based sync (using exiftool), but running into a problem: it works fine for xmp in sidecars, but not for xmp embedded in jpegs. I mean, most tags work fine - all so far, except HierarchicalSubject. Example: if metadata changed in Lightroom (note: down arrow), then hierachic

Lightroom SDK: copyright status seems to be missing, please add to formatted metadata.

Unless I'm mistaken, copyright status seems to be missing(?), please add to raw/formatted metadata. While I'm at it, if there is any way you can provide better documentation for how the raw/formatted metadata maps to exif/iptc/xmp fields would be appreciated (and how the raw/formatted names corresp

Lightroom: Maintain virtual copy snapshots independent of master photo.

Please allow us to maintain virtual copy snapshots independent of master photo. As you may know, I'm a proponent of eliminating the distinction between master & virtual altogether (despite some details that would need to be worked out, e.g. xmp...). If that doesn't happen, at least allow virtual c

I have found a condition where Lightroom will change the file system "Date Modified" on a raw file when you add the very first keyword for an image. This happens both when using the Save command (Cmd-S/ Ctl-S) and if you have "Automatically write changes to xmp" turned on. Once the first keyword is

Lightroom SDK: get/set photo settings in xml/xmp format.

In lieu of, or along with native support for xmp complete as sidecars, all file types, and virtual copies, I'd also like SDK support, for example: xml = photo:getMetadataAsXml( options ) -- preferrably xmp compatible format. photo:setXmlMetadata( xml ) -- preferrably xmp compatible format. If xmp

I recently opened a backup of my Lightroom catalog. Once I figured this out, I immediately closed the bac
